Our Founder Words & How Dragonfly Started

As a country girl born and raised at the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in East Tennessee, where do you go on vacation? To the beach! It was at the beach in 2015 that I was introduced to making bath and body products with ingredients you can find at home. We came home and went back to work when tragedy struck our family. My 31-year-old son, Bradley, was missing. He was finally found three days later in a densely wooded area not far from where he lived. To make things worse, if that is even possible, two men from across the street where the wreck happened were stealing all his HVAC tools and equipment out of his truck with him in the vehicle and never reporting the accident to the authorities.
The next few weeks were a whirlwind, and, thankfully, I only remember some of it. I cried a lot, as I'm sure any mother would do in this situation. I barely ate and had a hard time sleeping, but what kept me going was knowing I had three small foster children to take care of. They were my reason for getting out of bed in the morning. I was okay during the day, but once they were tucked into bed and the house was quiet, I was a mess. I began watching YouTube videos on how to make soap, lotion, bath bombs, and other products to keep my mind busy, and I found that this helped me more than any therapist could. Four months later, I made my first cold-processed soap. I had found my passion, and so it began.
Two years later, I knew this was what I wanted to do. My vision at that time was that every woman should be able to afford luxury bath products, and my goal is to continue providing my customers with products that make them happy at prices that keep them happy. Although I miss Brad so much, he is with me every day at the shop. I even have a section called “Bubba’s Corner,” which contains all of our men’s products. And if you look really close at the dragonfly logo, you can see his name, "Brad,” in the body of the dragonfly. It’s a reminder every day that he’s watching over me from above and that one day we will see each other again. Until then, fly high, dragonfly!
